Applications for 2016-17 Bridge to College Schools Ready to Go!

We are pleased to announce that we have opened the application process for school districts interested in offering the Bridge to College Math and/or English courses during the 2016-17 school year, thanks to our continued funding from the College Spark Foundation. All schools hoping to offer the Bridge to College courses in 2016-17 need to apply in the OSPI iGrants system (Form Package 719). Applications will be approved on a rolling basis starting January 11, 2016 through March 28, 2016. Schools that will continue to teach the course/s and new schools interested in offering the course should visit OSPI’s Bridge Course web page for more information and to sign up for an informational webinar on January 12, 2016 from 3:30 – 4:30p.m.

Participating schools will receive up to $12,500 per participating high school, depending on the number of teachers involved; the funding will support professional development and course materials for a maximum of two English and two Math teachers per school (total, new and returning teachers). In addition, funds are provided to support new principal participation in a one-day summer workshop. For more information about applying to offer the courses and to view a list of schools currently offering the courses, visit OSPI’s Bridge Course web page.

If you are a parent or community member interested in this opportunity for your student or your neighborhood high school, contact your school administrators to share this announcement and web site with them and encourage them to apply (and also start the process of getting the courses on the schedule for next year).
